NABET-CWA and ABC, Inc. negotiators resumed talks today at 9:30 A.M.
At today's bargaining session, the Company presented an overview of the state of its business and the television industry. After the presentation, ABC representatives began to explain their initial
bargaining proposals, which, in the opinion of the negotiating committee, would destroy job security through attacks on jurisdiction and elimination of seniority. These proposals would also diminish the quality of life by slashing work rules and other terms and conditions of employment. The NABET-CWA negotiators noted that there is no evidence of new work opportunities for bargaining unit employees in ABC's initial offer.
Union chief spokesperson, NABET-CWA President John Clark, in addressing Company representatives today said, "We are extremely disappointed with your initial package. The cumulative effect is devastating and our members are being asked to pay for your problems."
Talks adjourned for the evening at 6 P.M. The Company will continue running through its proposals when the parties reconvene at 9:30 A.M. tomorrow.
The Union Bargaining Committee reminds all members to ignore rumors. All official negotiation and mobilization information will be delivered on Sector and Local websites, hotlines, and e-mail lists. Company proposals will be available on the web at: www.abc-contract.info on Friday, March 2nd.
