ABC representatives continued their explanation of the Company's initial bargaining proposals when talks resumed today at 9:47 A.M.
The morning session run-through focused on ABC's proposed changes to Sideletters, including the elimination of Sideletter BR (the Extended Leave of Absence Program), the elimination of library jobs and freezing of Librarian pay under Sideletter DM, expanded use of digital camera equipment by non-NABET individuals including interns, elimination of all actual work currently protected under Sideletter DV, and a significant expansion of the Company's right to use vendor employees in place of bargaining unit employees.
The afternoon session run-through included initial discussions of the Company's proposals on Sideletter EI (removing certain protections against layoff from the current EI provisions), Sideletters EJ, FF, and GL, which would overcome certain New York based grievances and NLRB charges, Sideletter FG expanding the right to use non-NABET employees as News Producers in San Francisco, Sideletter FO restricting the dollar amount of a penalty due to an employee as the result of a violation of law, and several new sideletters that would seriously impact on jobs currently performed by NABET-CWA represented employees assigned to videotape libraries and tape storage, and to those assigned to Network Distribution functions.
The Company will continue its initial run-through of its proposals when bargaining resumes tomorrow. The Union Bargaining Committee expects to begin an initial run-through of the Union's proposals during tomorrow's session.
Talks adjourned at 4:30 P.M. and are scheduled to resume at 9:30 A.M. Tuesday, March 6th.
