NABET-CWA and ABC, Inc. negotiators resumed talks today at 10 A.M.
In the morning session, the Union Bargaining Committee completed its initial presentation of proposals concerning 'A' Contract Daily Hires. The Union proposed making Daily Hires eligible for the short turnaround and continuous tour provisions of the Master Agreement. Union Daily Hire representatives stated at the table today that ABC needs to focus on the competitive realities regarding wages, benefits, assignments, and work rules that affect Daily Hires in today's marketplace.
Next, ABC representatives discussed their proposal calling for the elimination of NABET-CWA represented Videotape Librarians. The Company also presented its Sideletter 7 proposal to temporarily transfer certain sports shows to Bristol, CT without assigning NABET-CWA represented employees under the Contract.
In the afternoon session, ABC expressed its interest in creating an apprenticeship type program for jobs currently performed by NABET-CWA represented employees under the Master Agreement.
The remainder of the day was spent completing the Union's initial presentation of General Articles and 'A' Contract proposals.
Talks adjourned for the evening at 6:30 P.M. and are scheduled to reconvene at 10:30 A.M. tomorrow. Friday's session will be dedicated to discussing 'B' Contract (Traffic) and 'R' Contract (New York Publicists) proposals.
