BULLETIN 23
May 29, 2007
In the absence of Company representatives over the long holiday weekend, the Union Bargaining Committee worked in caucus Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
When negotiations finally resumed at 2 P.M. today, the parties spent the majority of the session discussing newly submitted Union counterproposals on Sideletter DN (digital cameras), and Sections A8.2 and A8.7 (engineering meal periods). The Union today also submitted counterproposals on general wage increases across all units, news writer fees and classifications, and 'B' Unit night shift differential. The parties also reached tentative agreement on proposals for Section 19.2 and Stipulation 19.
Just prior to the conclusion of today's session, the Company withdrew its Sideletter 4 proposal on merging or consolidating Network Distribution facilities. ABC also submitted modifications to its proposals regarding seniority and layoff. These modifications appear to propose creating separate seniority groups within which the Company could layoff employees without regard to strict seniority.
Talks adjourned at 5 P.M. On Wednesday morning, the technology subcommittee and the sick leave subcommittee will convene in separate meetings. The parties are scheduled to return to meeting in full committee at 2 P.M.
The Union Bargaining Committee reminds all members to ignore rumors. All official negotiation and mobilization information will be delivered on the Sector website at www.abc-contract.info. Please also check Local websites, hotlines, and e-mail for additional information.
