BULLETIN 28
August 20, 2007
Following an eleven week recess, negotiations for a successor to the Master Agreement resumed today in Chicago, Illinois at 2:30 pm (CDT).
Company negotiators chose to spend the majority of today's session engaged in a status review of ABC's current proposals.
During an exhaustive walkthrough of open items, as well as language previously agreed to by the parties, Company representatives attempted to steer this session squarely towards only those concepts proposed by ABC, Inc. Chief Company spokesperson, Jeffrey Ruthizer, underscored the position taken by the Company on March 15th - - all proposals made by NABET-CWA negotiators which were not heretofore addressed by the Company are rejected.
During several spirited exchanges, Union negotiators cautioned Company representatives that a package of proposals in this shape and form would not receive the support of the Negotiating Committee or membership.
NABET-CWA Sector President and Chief Spokesperson for these talks, John S. Clark asked the Company "Where is the incentive for us? You are not offering us anything of value!"
Throughout the review process, Union Negotiators continued to probe the Company on the intent and potential application of some proposals.
Following a morning caucus, the parties are scheduled to resume talks tomorrow at 1:30pm (CDT).
The Union Bargaining Committee reminds all members to ignore rumors. All official negotiation and mobilization information will be delivered on the Sector website at www.abc-contract.info. Please also check Local websites, hotlines, and e-mail for additional information.
